Thank you to everyone who came out to visit me last weekend at the Chester County Studio Tour, or who touched base online or with email. I appreciate your support. You rock! I hope you are all enjoying your holiday weekend and hopefully taking a break. I am puttering around the arpartment and art studio this weekend, but next weekend I’ll be at a new-to-me show in Morristown, NJ. I hope to see some of you there. This will be one of only two NJ shows this year. The week after I’ll be doing a small one-afternoon-only art market in Chester Springs with a select group of art for sale. After that I (most likely) won’t be doing another art show until the end of July in Delaware. So get your art on at my June events if you can. June 1-2, 2024 Rose Squared Celebrate Morristown Art Show, on the grounds of the Vail Mansion, 110 South Street, Morristown, New Jersey. Hours: 10-5 PM daily, rain or shine. I will be at booth #203. See show map here. RSVP to the Facebook Event Page here. This will be my first show at Rose Squared’s Celebrate Morristown Art Show. It’s on the grounds of the beautiful historic Vail Mansion, and is a treat not to be missed! This event showcases both fine art and fine craft with works in apothecary, artisanal foods, ceramics, jewelry, wood, digital art, decorative and wearable fiber, furniture, glass, painting, 2D/3D mixed media and photography. Rose Squared, in partnership with the Morris County Art Association, brings the grounds of the Vail Mansion to life the first weekend in June. Artists set up around the reflecting pool and offer patrons the opportunity to shop and engage with them about their processes and inspirations. Easily accessible with town parking and a plethora of eateries this is a great weekend getaway for the art loving crowd.

On the Drawing Table…

I am currently working on an 24 x 18 inches rabbit painting. This one is using deeper, darker, night colors and will feature a luna moth as well as a young / baby rabbit hidden behind some ferns, garded by the adult rabbit. I’ve been working on this for the past week but should finish up sometime next week, if all goes well. Will it be at my next show in Morristown? We will see. If you come out, you can see if I beat my deadline. I will, of course, also post the final artwork (with purchase link) to my website as well. Visit my website at www.lynnetteshelley.com to view more of my available art. Below you’ll see the initial panel after I applied the ink wash background. Once dry, I made a light simple chalk outline of the basic composition. Later, acrylic paint layers are applied and then there is another layer of ink pen ‘cross-hatching’ on top to create depth. I still need to complete the border design and paint the luna moth, and tweak the background. I _may_ add one more small design element as well. I’ll wait til after I finish the moth and the border to decide if it’s needed or not.
