Germ Concerts
For the counterculture Philadelphians out there, NOT familiar with Germ Books, you really must check out their storefront on Frankford Avenue in the Fishtown section of the city. In addition to having all sorts of books on various topics - UFOS, politics, beat poetry, artists, science fiction, counterculture, and more - they also have a rotating art gallery featuring various area artists, AND have live music in-store once a month for Philadelphia's First Friday Arts Crawl. They also have discussion meetings, films, and more obscure fun than you can shake a stick at.
So I thought I'd spotlight an upcoming event at Germ that looks to be fun:

From the coffee shops of the Process Church to their virtual creation of the apocalyptic folk genre, Robert N. Taylor and his cousin Nicholas Tesluk have always infused the music of Changes with an uncompromising world view that translates readily into their largely heretofore unseen catalog of work in the visual media: it’s a psychonaut’s guide to the end of the world… with a new world just around the corner.
Like a lot of folk duos with long hair, Changes formed in 1969. But peace and love—or at least the narcissistic hippie understandings of these concepts—weren’t really their vibe. Thus, outside of live performances, their music remained largely unheard until rescued from obscurity by that great cultural historian Michael Moynihan, whose record label Storm co-released the CD FIRE OF LIFE with Willi Stasch’s Cthulhu Records in 1996. In the intervening years, they’ve quite actively released other CD’s and vinyl records, while performing around the world and indulging their not-so-public devotions to painting.
GERM proudly offers you this chance to own a piece of beauty, to own a piece of history, indeed, to own a tangible piece of the Western mystical revival.
