About Soltane Store
The Soltane Store is a retail shop selling local, handcrafted, sustainable items from Camphill and beyond, as well as a training center tailored to developing the talents of people with diverse abilities and support needs. It is a hub for growing our community through workshops around creativity, handwork, and crafts. The Soltane Store defies definition as the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
The goal for the Soltane Store is to give our students in Camphill Soltane's Learning for Life program a place to have an off-campus, professional retail internship, acquiring skills to help them secure paid employment in the future. When walking into our store you'll be greeted by one of our students, who will be excited to help you find what you're looking for!

Holiday Exhibition November 3 - December 31, 2016
at JAM Gallery
321 East King Street, Malvern, PA
OPENING RECEPTION November 12, 5- 8 PM.
The Holiday Season is in full festive swing with JAM Gallery’s new Holiday Exhibition. Some of the finest talents from the region will be on display (and sale) for the public from November 3 through December 31. The opening reception will be on Saturday November 12 from 5 to 8 PM, with a special talk by glass artist Steven Schaefer about his work around 6:30 PM. The reception is free and open to the public and features complimentary refreshments as well as a chance to meet and chat with artists represented in the show.
"This holiday season, JAM Gallery offers gifts that cannot be found elsewhere. An original work of art not only embodies the vision of its creator, but part of the artist's inner self will always be present through the personal craftsmanship of each exclusive painting or sculpture ," says JAM Gallery owner and artist Melanie Fisher.
Artist Steven Schaefer currently lives in Malvern, PA, and has been working with glass since 2012. According to Schaefer, “There is a deeply primal aspect to creating art that begins in a formless molten state of 2200 degrees. It requires fluid techniques, intense focus, and commands respect. It is a work in progress spanning decades to obtain mastery of it.The potential for failure can be high, but so are the rewards when everything goes right. This is the education you obtain from working with glass. My inspiration can come from a multitude of sources. However, I find that I gravitate towards the natural world as my primary muse. I strive to make each work unique. They have an organic flow to them with soft curves, bubbles, and a sense of fluid movement as core elements. A recent exploration of a technique that sculpts with compressed air, is producing some fascinating results. When applied to the outer skin of molten glass, short blasts of air can create natural curves and fissures that grab and bend light in unexpected ways. This technique transforms any object at its core, into something new for the eye to behold.”
The Holiday Exhibition will display artwork by both resident JAM Gallery artists Melanie Fisher and Lynnette Shelley as well as original works by artists: William Sulit, Jack Hanson, Margaret Barth, Chris Paxson, Lore Evans, Supriyo Sahoo, Bob Bauers, Wendy Edsall-Kerwin, Erica Brown, Tim Gibson, Kathryn Noska, Susan Gilli, Marianne Tebbens, Steven Schaefer, Brandon Lord Ross, Daisy Cohen, Jennifer Domal, Carla Lombardi, Norm Dodge, Bok Read, and Rose Manteghian.
