Happy October everyone. It's my absolute favorite time of the year and this year, Fall is even better with the first annual Delaware County Studio Tour! I have been busy preparing for this show for the past several months. This year I am a guest artist at photographer Chris Macan's super cool converted church studio in Havertown, PA (complete with historic graveyard for those looking for some authentic Halloween ambiance!). Details below.

The organizers of the popular Chester County Studio Tour that I participate in every spring have expanded to the first annual Delaware County Studio Tour! This is a truly neat event where tour participants can tour the county and visit many working artist studios along the way. Host artists in the region are paired up with guest artists, and this year I will be a guest artist at photographer Chris Macan's wonderful studio located in a former old church in Havertown. Along with Chris and myself, ceramicist George Watson will also be showing his artworks. We are Studio No. 3 on the map, so plan your tour and come visit us.

We invite friends, families, art enthusiasts, and the curious to experience and meet a variety of outstanding artists as they exhibit their work during this two-day event. This unique and intimate opportunity creates a free, unlimited access to the artists, and a clearer understanding of our story and creative process.

COUNTY COLLECTOR
As an added incentive, all the participating artists are creating unique miniature works of art called "County Collectors" that will measure 6 x 6 inches and available for a special weekend only price of $75. County Studio Tour wants to make art affordable for everyone and wants to show that art can be everywhere. Whether this is your first time buying original art or you are a seasoned collector, the tour now has something for everyone. In some instances, a favorite artist might be out of someone's price range, but now with the County Collectors Club, art is within reach. Some art enthusiasts are out of wall space yet enjoy the thrill of adding new art to their collection. This becomes possible with the County Collectors Club since the pieces are considered small.
All the pieces are uniform in size and framed with a simple, elegant black frame. To assure quality and uniqueness, all pieces will have a specially-marked certificate printed on the back commemorating this year's studio tour. Chester County Studio Tour is asking the artist to create only one commemorative piece of art, so plan your day and get out early to ensure you have art on your walls by Monday!

For more information on the County Collectors, please visit
http://www.countystudiotour.com/county-collector
Photos of all the county collectors are now live on the website.

Below is my own County Collector.

Strawberry Poison Frog
6 x 6 inches
Ink and Acrylic on Hardboard

Available for $75 during the Delaware County Studio Tour only. First come, first served. After the tour, if the artwork has not sold, it will be for sale at my normal price rate of $150. Every year I have participated in the studio tour, my county collector has sold so I advise people who are interested in purchasing the piece to arrive my studio location early.

PLAN YOUR TRIP
Follow the map through the winding roads and rolling hills until you reach the door of an artist’s studio. There you can join artists on their journey and begin experiencing art everywhere in Delaware County. If that sounds daunting, we encourage you to plan a day or the whole weekend exploring. Visit all the artists in one day or take your time and do it in two days. County Studio Tour has designed three easy and accessible routes with the connoisseur in mind. We have plotted courses to help you traverse the county with the most scenic roads in mind, surely making it a day about the journey. Plan your day and get out early to start or add to your art collection.

Chris, George and I look forward to seeing you at the studio tour!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS AT STUDIO #3

CHRIS MACAN
Chris Macan is an artist and curator living in Newtown Square and working out of a converted Church Studio in Havertown. Chris is best known for his ongoing interest in alternative and low fidelity photographic technology such as Color Infrared, Toy Camera, Polaroid and Pinhole photography. He has also gained local notoriety for his curatorial work with Dissentia Curatorial Services (www.dissentia.com) and Nexus Foundation for Today's Art.

GEORGE WATSON
George Watson, a native to the Delaware Valley, discovered early in his childhood his passion for The Arts. Growing up in the 50s and 60’s in a large Irish-American household, George was inspired by many artists such as Degas, Monet, Laurtrec and Picasso.

In 1993, George channeled his artistic vision and talent creating Double U Design, a graphic design company committed to providing creative expertise and business-to-business communications.

Clients include both Fortune 500 companies and independent businesses.

Through the ongoing success of Double U Design, George still devoted time for his love of pottery. Encouraged by family, friends and clients, George Watson Pottery was born. George Watson Pottery specializes in stoneware and Raku, creating a unique design and look that blends with any decor. Specifically, the Raku firing technique and the reduction cause the pots to develop vivid colors and copper sheens. Oxygen deprivation (reduction) and drastic temperature changes determine the rich hues. As a result, no two items are exactly alike. This is what defines George Watson Pottery.

LYNNETTE SHELLEY
Lynnette Shelley is an award-winning Pennsylvania artist specializing in contemporary mixed media animal paintings. Having a great love of wildlife, folktales, tribal art and world mythology, Shelley fuses these influences into her strikingly unique artworks. Her paintings strike a primal chord in many viewers, with almost Jungian associations to the colors and shapes. Her complex compositions and zoomorphic and totemic animal art and folklore-inspired creations are both primitive and sophisticated, and have been likened to images from an undiscovered ancient civilization or culture.

Shelley's animal and mythological-themed artworks have been displayed nationally as well as regionally at museums, art galleries and other venues. Most recently, she was one of 28 artists selected to participate in the Donkeys Around Town public arts initiative in Philadelphia. She painted two of the 57 fiberglass donkeys that were displayed in Center City Philadelphia during the Democratic National Convention in July 2016 (see press release). She also recently had four of her artworks licensed and installed as large prints in Nemours duPont Pediatrics new facility in Deptford, NJ.

I Need Your Vote (Again)

I need to ask you to do something for me today

I need your vote.

This year the Delaware County Studio Tour is awarding one artist on the tour $500. YOU get to pick that artist. I am hoping you will choose me. Back in Spring, you helped me to be the winning artist on the Chester County Studio Tour and I received that $500 award check, which was much needed for all of my art supplies. Thank you!

If I win the vote for the Delaware County Studio Tour, I will be using the money to invest in a better camera to take pictures of my artwork, which is badly needed.

It takes only a few seconds to cast your vote and voting is open until October 16. You can only vote once so please make your vote count.

If you do vote for me please email me to let me know as I'll be saving all email contacts and if I win, I will be randomly drawing one to send a free print to.
