Latest Artwork: Mothnight

I've been experimenting with some new textured paints I picked up and incorporating them into my process. This new piece I finished yesterday and, at least for me, is successful in integrating the effects. To get this effect I used Ampersand Aquabords as my working surface and I very liberally splashed and splattered it with ink and water. Then, while the ink was still pooling on the board, I splattered it with gold Pebeo Fantasy Prisme paint (which are some new paints I picked up that offer various textural effects). (This is a very messy process btw and makes me wish for the hundredth time i had a 'real' studio to work out of instead of my apartment! ;) ). Then I let everything settle and dry (which took about a day) before making the moth illustration on top with ink pen and acrylic paint.

There are some negatives with working with the Pebeo (negatives include long drying time and the very strong fume smell), but I am enjoying working with it as I am getting some great textures out of it.

You can also see a short video on Facebook of the work while it's still in progress here.
