Big News plus Work in Progress: Origins
MAJOR News in the works: I can't spill all the details yet, but a friend of mine will be launching a new gallery in late summer in the Pennsylvania area and I will be helping her run it, helping her curate the shows, and, in addition, will be one of the permanent artists with work on display / sale in the gallery. The bid for the building space for the gallery was just accepted and so now we will both be busy doing all the prep work that goes into launching the space. Stay tuned for details soon.....
In the meantime, I started a new piece this week based off the orphic egg / cosmic egg / world egg mythologies. In these mythologies, adopted by various cultures in various forms, the universe was created out of an egg. Out of the egg was birthed the creator god, who formed the world and the various other gods and goddesses. In some of the stories the egg is from a bird, while in other tales, the egg is associated with a serpent. I decided to create my piece "Origins" with a female principle / mother bird and a male principle / father snake. The egg is being birthed by the bird and inside is the circle representing the universe. I hope to have the piece completed in the next day or two but here are the work in progress photos so far.
