Work in Progress: Boxing Hares

I have several big shows art shows coming up in 2013 that I need to have some more new pieces for, as well as I want some more strong new work to use to apply to other prestigious juried shows. So I decide to do an ink piece with boxing hares as a subject matter as this would give me a chance to draw yet more creepy looking rabbits ;)

So here is the start from earlier today. I also took a video with my cell phone, and as soon as I have access to wifi and can upload it, I'll post it here.

I took some Arches artboard and stained / splashed / drizzled it with ink, tea and running water in several applications until I got the background to look like I wanted it to, and then I did a pencil sketch / outline of the two animal combatants. I may end up tweaking the hare on the right hand side before I ink him in as I am not entirely happy with his shape.
