(mixed media includes: oil pastels, colored pencils, acrylic, liquid gold leaf, liquid silver leaf, sharpie, gold ink, gouache).

According to native american mythology, the elk symbolizes nobility, freedom, great strength and power. As such, I drew a portrait of him to represent his role as “king” of the forest. The bordered “frame” represents a window to the sky (freedom / spirituality / life ) and the leaves are red representing the autumn, or the cyclical dying of the forest.
